Say these 3 words when the IRS is at your door

He called me at the end of the visit.
Not the beginning. The end.
An IRS agent sat in his conference room, going through his books.
Had been for a while. He had watched my videos, read my emails, and already decided to hire me. And he still let the agent walk in, sit down, and start flipping pages before he picked up the phone.
I do not blame him.
Nobody tells you what to do when the IRS is physically standing at your front door or your business.
So Andrew and I did a whole episode on it.
It started with that article everybody was sharing last week. "The IRS is knocking on doors in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, New York and Chicago."
Sounds like breaking news. It was written on an Argentine website, rewritten by a newspaper in India, and passed around Facebook by people who have never sat across from a revenue officer.
Half of it is true. Half of it is bait. We went through which is which.
In the episode:
The letter the (IRS)Hitman sends before any visit now, and why a cold knock today means a summons, a subpoena, a criminal investigation, or a scammer
The three words that stop an IRS interview on the spot (hint: "I want an accountant" is the wrong three)
The two IDs a real IRS field employee has to carry, and why the badge alone means nothing
The five things that get a revenue officer assigned to your file, and how many of them are sitting in your mail drawer right now
A client in his late 70s who bought six figures in gold bars for a fake government agent, and why the tax bill that follows a scam is the second gut punch
Andrew brought a case too: a man who pulled over $2 million out of retirement for a scammer, lost all of it, and got a tax bill for the withdrawal.

Here is the part I want you to hear.
The revenue officer does not show up on day one. He shows up after the letters. After the deadlines you did not read.
After the IRS has had a year or two to work.
By the time someone is in your conference room, every easy option is already off the table.
The people I can help fastest are the ones who call before the visit. Not after.

P.S. Andrew's client pulled over $2 million out of his retirement accounts for a scammer. The money is gone. The IRS still wants the tax and the penalty on the withdrawal. Two gut punches. Same year.
I am talking with our local congressman about changing that. Until it changes, the only protection is knowing this: nobody from the government ever tells you to go get gold, gift cards, or crypto. Ever.
P.P.S. The printed comic is here. The Tax Underworld, Issue 1, The Vulture Strikes Again. First 50 copies. Come into the office for an appointment, and you leave with one. No charge.
