Our favorite hotel heiress Paris Hilton was released from a minimum security women’s prison in Lynwood, CA on Tuesday at 12:15am in high spirits. ABC News rehashed the history of events that landed the celebutante into the slammer in the first place. "Hilton’s path to jail began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her car on what she said was a late-night run to a hamburger stand. She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed, Hilton was stopped twice by officers who discovered her driving with a suspended license.
The second stop landed her in Sauer’s courtroom, where he sentenced her to 45 days in jail. She was released after three weeks for reasons including good behavior." She gave this statement immediately after her release. "This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done," she said in a statement. "I have had a lot of time to reflect, and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience."
Hilton has said in interviews that her time behind bars has renewed her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Great article below by my good friend and partner James Lee below: "I’m so much more grateful for everything that I have, even just to have a pillow at night or food," she told TV host Ryan Seacrest in a telephone interview Thursday for E! Entertainment Television." So alls well that ends well, right?
This MUST be a turning point in her life, right? I mean listen to this report from The First Post… "She is free – after a massive party, bien sur – she wants to do her bit to give something back. "I want to help build a transitional home so that when inmates leave here they have somewhere to go," the hotel heiress (below) told US broadcaster Ryan Seacrest. "These women just keep coming back because they have no home to go to. It’s just a really bad cycle. If we stop it now, we can make our community a better place." WOW…
Who can doubt her sincerity and willingness to be more responsible from this point on, right? WRONG!!! Remember this is PARIS HILTON we are talking about. The same Paris Hilton of the infamous"1 Night in Paris" sex tape, the same Paris Hilton who flaunts her charmed existence on her yawner of a reality show, and has been the center of booze and party induced gossip since her teens. In short, this type of behavior is HABITUAL for her, it’s all she knows, and she will continue to unconsciously sabotage herself unless someone enforces some kind of discipline on her 24/7, or she makes a real commitment to change her lifestyle around.
Which I kind of doubt will happen. So what does this have to do with you and your debt? Well most people in debt that I know have a similar kind of self sabotaging mentality with regards to their finances. They will transfer balances, buy things even when the budget is strained, and pull out adjustable rate home equity loans to "keep up with the Jones’" And in the same way there will be no change in your life until you follow a plan that gives you the automation and discipline to complete it, and there is a real desire for change and a desire to break the destructive debt cycle. Until you do that you will always have financial problems and debt, no matter how much money you make. And unfortunately you probably aren’t the heiress to a billion dollar hotel chain so you don’t have the luxery of spending like a rock star.
When you look back on the past 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, and 5 years, have the finances gotten better or worse? Has your credit score gotten better or worse?
