On this eerie Halloween night, I’m drawn back to a chilling memory, one that still haunts me, something that’s not easy to talk about.
It’s about the day my mom had a stroke in 2016. It was one of the most harrowing experiences of my life.
I remember the urgency, the fear, as I followed the ambulance that was rushing her to Loma Linda University.
Every second felt like an eternity.
As a former EMT/Medic, I knew the ropes and the procedures, but at that moment, none of that mattered.
All I could see was my mom in pain, and all I wanted was for the doctors to act, and act fast.
But here’s the thing – and it took me a while to accept this – the doctors at Loma Linda did what was best.
They ordered blood work, labs, and CT scans before they even considered surgery.
As her son, watching her in agony, I was frustrated.
Why weren’t they moving faster?
But they needed to understand exactly what they were dealing with to come up with the best and most appropriate treatment plan.
It wasn’t about being slow; it was about not doing MORE harm than good.
They did exactly the right thing they said if they had done surgery on her it could have made things worse or even killed her!
Thank God for CT Scans!
This, my friend, is exactly how we approach your tax debt.
When we do our Phase 1 – Investigation and Discovery is like the doctor ordering blood, labs, and x-rays!
It might seem like we’re not moving fast enough.
Like those doctors, we want to know what we’re dealing with.
We’re not in the business of quick fixes that could potentially lead to bigger problems down the road.
Just like a medical team won’t rush into surgery without a proper diagnosis, we won’t rush into resolving your tax issues without a full understanding of the situation.
It’s not about dragging our feet; it’s about ensuring we don’t make things worse by acting without the necessary information.
So, while it might seem counterintuitive, sometimes taking a moment to assess and understand is the quickest way to a real, lasting solution.
Here’s to getting it right, not just getting it done,
Enjoy your Halloween evening, I am heading over to see Mom!
