As I write this, I’m on day seven of a relentless cold that’s made this holiday weekend more of a convalescence than a celebration.
While I’ve been sidelined next to the fireplace, buried in books, it’s given me a chance to reflect on several personal and professional things.
Firstly, I missed Bella’s first day of club volleyball – a bittersweet reminder of how swiftly time passes, only one more “first day of club volleyball left”
But more poignantly, Liz and I marked our 18th wedding anniversary.
It’s astonishing how quickly these years have flown.
Although my illness meant a low-key celebration, we plan something special this Saturday.
Speaking of roles, I’ve fully embraced being a Volleyball Dad – a commitment that, like all good things, is moving too fast.
Yet, amidst these personal milestones, a more pressing matter has emerged, affecting many of you: the IRS’s ramped-up collection efforts.
Early this morning, I received a flurry of messages from East Coast colleagues, alarmingly noting a surge in IRS notices, particularly the dreaded Letter 504 – The Final Notice Before Levy.
Yes, the IRS version of “Nightmare Before Christmas”
This letter isn’t just a warning; it’s a final call to action.
Ignoring it means facing severe consequences like bank levies, wage garnishments (an embarrassment far worse than the financial strain for many), and the seizure of potential refund checks.
Upon reaching my office today, I was greeted by over 80 such letters for our clients.
It’s a stark reminder that the time for postponing IRS issues has ended.
These are not just empty threats but real actions the IRS is prepared to take.
So, what does this mean for you?
It’s time to confront these challenges head-on.
Whether it’s dealing with a cold, celebrating life’s milestones, or tackling tax problems, the key is not to let these situations overwhelm us.
We must face them with resilience and a clear plan of action.
For those facing IRS challenges, I urge you not to delay any further.
As someone who has navigated these waters both personally and professionally, I understand the stress and complexity involved.
But remember, avoiding the problem only exacerbates it.
Together, we can work towards a solution that prevents these severe actions from the IRS.
In closing, I want to remind each of you that, like overcoming an illness or celebrating milestones, dealing with the IRS is a journey that requires patience, strategy, and support.
I am here to provide that support and guide you through this process.
Let’s go ahead and tackle this together.
Wishing you health, happiness, and a swift resolution to your tax matters.
Best regards,
Carlos “Volleyball Dad” Samaniego, EA
