This morning, I found myself waking up in the gorgeous paradise of Sarasota, Florida after my redeye flight from Ontario, California, and let me tell you, the vibes here are something else.
Why am I here?
Well, it’s all for our best-selling book celebration, “Never Give Up: Stories of Grit, Determination, Tenacity, and Triump,” where I had the pleasure of sharing a dinner table with none other than the legendary Dick Vitale and his beautiful bride, Lorraine.
What an amazing evening to spend with this legend who just recently fought off cancer again, although his voice was soft when we spoke you listened.
But before I dive into that, let me take you back to a rendezvous that was 20 years in the making.
Picture this: a reunion with an old friend, Pete Kici, who I hadn’t seen in what felt like a lifetime.
Pete’s a real-life success story—he transitioned from being a Marine and a real estate pro, a non-filer for a few years to becoming an Enrolled Agent, all with a little guidance from yours truly.
Now, he’s a vital part of our tax-busting team.
We decided to meet up at Jerry Dockside Bar and Grill near Tampa, a spot that screams “Florida vibes.” The weather? Unbelievably perfect. No humidity, temps in the 70s, and a gentle, cool breeze.
Pete assured me that this weather is like finding a unicorn in the Florida climate spectrum.
Now, about that “Grandpa” business – I’ll tell you, I felt way too young to be slapped with that title.
Pete was on the same page. So, here’s the deal: I’ve officially embraced “Pops” instead of “Grandpa”.
How about “Pops” as my moniker in the world of tax resolution.
