Why I turned tax problems into a comic book

Carlos Samaniego · October 7, 2026 · 1 min read

You walk past the envelope again.

You know it’s from the IRS. You tell yourself you’ll open it after dinner.

Then tomorrow.

I know that routine. I went eight years without filing. The longer I waited, the harder it became to tell anyone how bad things had gotten.

That silence is part of what I wanted to put on the page when I created THE TAX UNDERWORLD.

If you’re facing an immediate tax problem, you can reach my office at 909-570-1103 or book appointment at CallTaxEA.com.

You don’t have to finish the story before asking for help.

Issue #1 is called “The Vulture Strikes at Night.”

The Bank Levy Vulture is fictional. The fear behind him is real. Rent money. Payroll. The money you need to keep your family going.

A comic gives that fear a face. It gives you a story to follow when another explanation full of tax jargon might never get read.

Here’s what I want you to recognize: the person putting off those letters may already know there’s a problem. What they need is a way to start facing it.

Someone helped me do that. Now that’s the work I do for others.

Download the comic at TaxUnderworld.com

And if someone you care about has been carrying a tax problem in silence, forward this email. It might help them start the conversation.

P.S. You don’t need every document in order before you ask for help. Start with the letter you’ve been avoiding.
