I fell in the creek writing this email
Carlos Samaniego · August 30, 2026 · 1 min read
Good Saturday morning.
I was out walking Bruno by the creek this morning while talking this email into my phone.
Bad idea.
There are some big boulders along that creek, and I fell twice during the same walk.
The second time, I partially ended up in the water.
It can get dangerous out here. Apparently, I need to stop working while I’m walking and pay attention to where I’m stepping.
But that should tell you how much this has been on my mind.
After more than 20 years helping people through serious IRS problems and also dealing with my own tax problems, I’ve turned one of the situations I see all the time into something I’ve never created before.
A comic book.
THE TAX UNDERWORLD
ISSUE #1: THE VULTURE STRIKES AT NIGHT
It begins with a woman finishing a long shift, trying to buy gas, and discovering that her bank account has been frozen by an IRS levy.
She thinks it happened without warning.
It didn’t.
The Vulture had been circling for weeks.
The official launch is coming soon. But I made a 12-second trailer, and I wanted you to see it first.
That’s all for today.
I’m going to dry off, keep walking Bruno and try not to fall into the creek a third time.

P.S. This isn’t a one-time comic. The Tax Underworld is the beginning of a new series. The next case file is already taking shape.
