I am here with a story that should be a warning bell for all of you, especially if you’ve got some skeletons in the IRS closet.
I recently read a post from Diane Kennedy, a brilliant CPA I’ve known for years.
She shared something chilling about posting on social media and IRS audits.
You see, the IRS recently announced they stopped making house calls, and now they are sending “Personal Invitations” to meet at their location.
However, many of you do not realize that the IRS, or as I often call them, “The Big Collector.”
They’re scrolling through your social media.
You heard that right. That #VacationGoals or #LivingLarge photo might just come back to bite.
Speaking of social media moguls, have you encountered this fictional “character” Vinnie Mirage?
I bet you’ve seen this guy or gal in your social media feeds.
Vinnie’s life is the stuff legends are made of. The man has a taste for luxury and is not afraid to show it off.
Now, I’ve nothing against a man flaunting his successes.
But Vinnie? He’s playing a risky game. You can’t miss his flashy cars, the beach selfies, and those parties that scream opulence.
His hashtags? Oh, they’re bold. #NoLimits, #Luxury, #MoneyTalks.
But do they shout a little too loudly?
Here’s the deal.
While Vinnie basks in the adoration of his fans, a silent predator is lurking. “The Big Collector” and the mysterious FTB-State of California. Liz likes to call the FTB “Cali Claw” and have their sights set.
They’re piecing together a digital dossier, with every post-Vinnie makes as Exhibit A.
A collection not of likes and followers but of evidence.
For owed taxes. For potential fraud.
There’s a saying Vinnie loves, “You can either watch things happen, make things happen, or wonder what the hell just happened.”
The irony? If Vinnie’s not careful, he might end up in that last category.
